Illadelph Halflife
This past Friday, on an excursion to the University of Pennsylvania for T's research project, I tagged along and explored this unfamiliar city by foot while she searched through boxes of archives under the Franklin Field. I know,.. I totally got the better end of that one. It was a gorgeous September day and, though my trek took me four hours in the wrong kind of shoes, I dare say I saw at least half of downtown's scenery. The route I took (on foot in red, final leg via taxi in blue) - ![]() Things I've learned about the city of brotherly love : 1 - The roach coach is a way of life there, damn near every corner has some form of food on wheels. 2 - Bicycles very popular, I don't know if it's because the city is "green", flat or the colonially narrow streets demand it. 3 - Skank capital of the east coast, I've never seen such questionable ladies fashion on what could barely be called "ladies". 4 - Smoking ban in effect for a while now. 5 - Lots of outdoor seating at every other restaurant. 6 - Geno is a racist fucker, get your cheesesteaks at Pat's, they're basically the same anyway. 7 - Roads in Penn suck and bridges look about to collapse (topical). From the Schuylkill to the Allegheny, you must wonder where the taxes go. 8 - Navigating much easier with GPS. 9 - South Street, that old grey mare just ain't what she used to be. 10 - Museums galore! Fun trip. It'll be a regular Friday thing every other, now to find The Bishop's Collar. Wednesday, September 05, 2007
Eat Your Heart Out, Curious George
It seems as I get older, and the interwebs offer up more and more opportunities to waste time, I find myself regressing in terms of what I find entertaining. To that end, here are the tales of a monkey and bulldog - respectively known as Pan and James. I first discovered the amazing duo on Ebaum's World under the video heading Monkey and Dog Ride Train. Now I've never been able to turn down the idea of seeing a monkey in people clothes (who would?! for that matter), so curiosity got the better of me. Watching that changed my life. After the some serious Wikipedia searching, I find their name and hop to YouTube. These guys not only capable riding trains; but also hunting for mushrooms, buying shoes, stealing ice cream and general mischief. Now I realize I am watching what is ostensibly a Japanese children's show... but I really don't care. Highlights to watch for : Part 1 - Hopping Over a River Part 3 - The Ice Cream Cone Fight Part 4 - Mushroom Wrestling Part 5 - Pan Trying On Shoes P.S. - Yes, oh yes,.. my girlfriend DOES suspect I may have brain damage.
